It's More Fun In the Philippines
Department of Tourism
Located far away from the usual Southeast Asian backpacking trail, the 7000 plus islands comprising the Philippines is still pretty new to the backpacking industry.
Unlike its more popular Southeast Asian neighbors like Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia where tourists have flocked for decades, backpackers enjoy amenities and convenience that are still being in the Philippines. Hostels, guesthouses, budget tour packages and the like are have been sprouting, albeit slowly.
Thanks to the aggressive marketing effort of the Department of Tourism in promoting the Philippines in different countries, and locals who encourage foreign friends to come over, tourism is now a rapidly-growing industry in the country.

Now is the best time to come to the Philippines!
Top 10 Reasons to Come to the Philippines.
(in no particular order)
1. US! The Filipino people. We're warm, friendly, hospitable and just darn fun to be with! 2. Pristine white-sand beaches. Get that natural, glowing tan here!
3. Festivals! Festivals! Festivals! From religious to harvest festival, we celebrate at least one big crazy festival every month. The biggest, of course, is Sinulog.
4. Diver's paradise. If chilling at the beach is not your thing but you still love the ocean, then this one is for you.
5. Exotic food. It's fear-factor time. Your trip to the Philippines is not complete with trying balut!
6. Historic sites. From the Spanish era to the American period to the Japanese occupation, history (and architecture) buffs would be easily transported back in time.
7. Island hopping. For when you're tired of one island, just hop on a banca and sail to another island.
8. We're more than just beaches. Really. We have beautiful waterfalls, caves, rice terraces and other natural wonders to enjoy when you've had too much sun already.
9. Interesting animals. If you don't know what a tarsier is then google it.
10. You get the best of both worlds! We have both Western (Spanish and American) and Asian (Chinese and Malay) influences. It's like South America but in Asia. It's kinda confusing in a totally awesome way.
Calm down, folks! More detailed information will be published in the blog. Watch this site!
